A BEGGINERS GUIDE TO CHAKRAS

In Reiki and Sound sessions, I work with the energy system and Chakras - seven centres of that system.

We are made up of thousands of energy channels and the main places that these channels connect are known as our chakras - wheel - vortex centres where the energy is highly concentrated.

Chakras are responsible for connecting us to the earth on which we stand while allowing for an elevation of consciousness that connects us to the life force energy. From the chakras emanates the radiant subtle energy field known as the aura.

Running up the spine, from the pelvic area up to the crown of the head. Each Chakra differs in vibrational frequency in relation to the parts of the body they align with eg. colon, liver, heart, gall bladder, brain, ears, eyes...

Our chakras relate to parts of the body and our emotions.

Chakras vitalise the body by transmitting and absorbing energy.

Our Endocrine system is affected when the flow of subtle energy becomes blocked in one or more of the chakras, and because of this we are liable to develop mental and physical illness - you might experience physical pain, emotional ups, and downs, or a general feeling that something isn"t right.  These blockages often lead to the suppression of emotions and make you feel a little disturbed

They also offer a means of working with the body to build energy or let it go. Understanding which chakra is blocked and how to heal it can help you find your way back to balance and well-being.

Each chakra is associated with specific positive and negative emotional states or has a corresponding shadow emotion associated with it. Addressing your shadow emotions can help you to  open up and balance your chakras, promoting energy flow and well-being.

Examples of shadow emotions:

Root Chakra:

It is connected to our adrenal glands, which produce hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones play a crucial role in our response to stress and help us navigate challenging situations. When the Root Chakra is balanced, it supports the healthy functioning of the adrenal glands, ensuring optimal hormonal balance.

Sound Practice & Chakras

When we are exposed to the  healing sounds of these keys they bring the energy centres of the body back into balance in a multidimensional manner, helping us to restore health and balance holistically.

Different sound frequencies correspond to each of the 7 main chakras in your body. We can use the octave scale to simplify the frequencies of each sound. There are a few different beliefs on which tone interacts with which chakra. One of those is championed by Jevon Dängeli, an Authentic Self Empowerment (ASE) Facilitator and Trainer. According to his research:

Each chakra has its area of resonance within the body, a colour spectrum, and a sound vibration that brings it into resonance:

  • C = Root Chakra - Red

  • D = Sacral Chakra - Orange

  • E = Solar Plexus Chakra - Yellow

  • F = Heart Chakra - Green

  • G = Throat Chakra - Blue

  • A = Third Eye Chakra - Indigo

  • B = Crown Chakra - Purple

Each tone has a frequency that closely matches the frequency of chakra. Through brain entrainment, your cells react and want to align to the strong frequency of the sound wave.

This is one way your sound practitioner can work with you to unblock and open chakras that you feel need attention.

Our bodies are a complex system that is woven together though, so there can be overlap and connections between the chakras and tonal notes.

Do I need to do anything special to let these tones open my chakras?

No, you simply need to allow yourself to accept the sound waves as they wash over your body and through your mind. If you have access to a meditative breath work practice, it can be helpful to enter a calm state of mind during a sound bath session.
